Dr Elizabeth Maher

Director

Dr Elizabeth Maher is a General Practitioner (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery with Honours, Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners), who graduated from Monash University Medical School in 2003. She then spent several years working at Monash Health. Elizabeth completed placements at various hospitals throughout Melbourne and regional areas of Victoria, including terms in paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, emergency medicine and surgery, before moving into General Practice.

Elizabeth also currently works at the Masada Early Parenting Centre (previously named the Mother Baby Unit) Sleep School, is a lecturer for the General Practice training program, where she lectures on infant sleep and behaviour, and is an examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.  Elizabeth has had more than 10 years experience in General Practice, and has more than 15 years experience working with families and babies. Elizabeth has spent most of her time working in General Practice in the south eastern suburbs of Victoria, however has also worked in rural and outer metropolitan areas, as well as Perth.

Elizabeth has two beautiful daughters, who as babies, didn’t understand the importance of sleep! This started Elizabeth’s extensive research into the field of sleep training techniques, and lead to her current position at the Masada Early Parenting Centre. Due to her own personal experience, she understands the worry, guilt, confusion and pure exhaustion associated with parenting an infant with sleep issues. Since then she has treated hundreds of infants and families, as inpatients and outpatients, who have suffered from the effects of having an unsettled baby.

In her spare time, Elizabeth can be found on the dance floor (latin and ballroom dancing), in the yoga studio, and searching for adventure with her husband and two energetic girls.
